Applefields School Students Visit Colour Heroes!
The team at Colour Heroes were delighted recently to open our office up for a morning educational visit from a small group of students from Applefields School.
About Applefields School

The mission of the school is to help enable the students to ‘Own Your Future’. SEMH stands for social, emotional, and mental health. It refers to the ability of individuals, particularly children and young people, to manage their emotions, interact with others, and cope with the challenges of daily life. In an educational context, SEMH is often used to describe a type of special educational need where a child experiences difficulties in these areas.
In essence, SEMH is a broad term that encompasses the social, emotional, and mental well-being of individuals, particularly young people. Recognising and addressing SEMH needs is crucial for creating a positive and supportive learning environment and promoting overall well-being.
The Session at Colour Heroes
The students’, who visited us on the 25th June, skills were of a KS1/2 Level. The morning comprised of a warm introduction to all students and staff. Initially, we started with a session of group interactive drawing. This allowed the students to see some examples of the characters and illustrations Colour Heroes have created for our clients. Each student was then able to demonstrate their individual and unique creativity in drawing and colouring.
We then (after a break for drinks and biscuits!) opened up the office so the students could individually sit with each Colour Heroes team member to learn more about what that person’s job involved. This included the hands-on, practical tasks these jobs required to be completed successfully. During these meetings, the students could learn from our team members the creative skills required to produce our bespoke characters, illustrative designs, and activity packs.
The morning session ended with a hands-on challenge to complete just one day-to-day task we often have at Colour Heroes. This particular one was to fully prepare and pack a set number of activity bags. This task was goal-orientated, as all students who completed it successfully were given a little prize to take back to school.
The students left inspired, having enjoyed a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the daily magic at Colour Heroes. It was a pleasure for our team to host such an enthusiastic group, and we eagerly anticipate opening our doors again to equally curious and engaged visitors in the future!
